Japanese Tea "Hinoyakane" Packaging Wins 2021 TOPAWARDS ASIA Design Award
The packaging for the Japanese tea "Hinoyakane" has won the 2021 TOPAWARDS ASIA Design Award. Its pure Japanese design highlights that it is sourced from Japanese tea leaves, complemented by a gradient change in the hollowed water drop, representing the process of tea fields transitioning from green to red. The character “丿” in the name "Hinoyakane" is shaped to resemble the origin of the tea, Tokunoshima Island, making the design concept complete and earning "Hinoyakane" the honor of being this year's TOP packaging design award winner.
"Hinoyakane" is made from SUNROUGE tea leaves produced in Tokunoshima, Kagoshima Prefecture. Under the intense sunlight of the southern islands, the tea leaves sprout red buds, resembling lipstick, thus the name "SUNROUGE." This is Japan's first red green tea, developed over 12 years, represented by the deep red color "aka" in traditional Japanese color names, leading to the product being called "Hinoyakane."
Using pesticide-free cultivation, the healthy SUNROUGE tea contains catechins and polyphenols common in green tea, as well as the rare anthocyanins found in tea leaves. These components not only help inhibit the activity of sugar-decomposing enzymes but also improve eye fatigue. Therefore, it has obtained the designation of functional foods, making it a tea that promotes health the more you drink.
"Hinoyakane" will produce different colors depending on the type of water, temperature, and steeping time. Because it contains a high level of anthocyanins, adding acidic ingredients will turn it red. When consumed with lemon or grapefruit, which are acidic fruits, the originally green tea transforms into a beautiful red!
